>>Flying for Faith History

As a message from Pierce Cable:

As long as I can remember, I have held two things especially close to my heart--aviation and children. I developed a strong passion for aviation since my first flight on a commercial airliner at age four. Today, I can still remember portions of this magical flight some twenty years later; it was on a "Midwest Express Airlines" DC-9 to New York's La Guardia airport. The passion still burns strong today.

Pursuing this dream to fly, I have been blessed to find a home with the loved Midwest Airlines here in Milwaukee, WI., where I currently fly as a First Officer in the modernized DC-9, the Boeing 717. Here, I have had the privilege of making that same flight to New York that was foreshadowed many years ago.

For me, some of my greatest sensations of peace, intrigue, and excitement have come from soaring the blue skies.

On the other side of the coin, as I grew up, I have been able to satisfy my desire to support children through volunteering at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, substitute teaching in the Wauwatosa School District, and helping with the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program.

Most recently though, I have felt a longing to take these two passions and combine them to create a greater good--the result: Flying for Faith.

Flying for Faith became recognized as an official non-profit organization as of June 1, 2007 with the filing of our 501 (c) 3 paperwork. From that date, remarkable progress has been made and I owe it entirely to the amazing team members that have joined me in making this vision a reality. These individuals have made and continue to make sacrifices. Our team is receiving no compensation for our work with Flying for Faith. In fact, three team members gave much of their own life's savings to purchase the plane which will be the heart of this organization.

As we began to meet on a regular basis, the concept of the organization's mission evolved until we settled on the following:

The mission of Flying for Faith is to make a positive difference in the lives of youth and their families by using the exhilaration of aviation to attract them to programs that enhance their quality of life while demonstrating a value of comprehensive love.

Currently, the Flying for Faith team is working daily on taking this mission and making it a smooth running operation. We are networking with youth development organizations and local, Milwaukee ministries. The next step is developing a unique program for each of the organizations that we team with. This will allow a customized experience to fit the needs of both Flying for Faith and the sister organization/ministry.

Stay tuned!

History is in the making!
